Corporations requiring composite hose for hydrocarbons, chemicals, ship to shore needs should partner with a manufacturer that has invested their expertise in the development of the right plant and the right products. Handling vibration in industrial applications is critical and where composite hose are the choice to get the job done. For purposes of in plant suction and discharge transfer; blending and drumming; or, tank car and railcar transfer, the flexibility of construction allows for the compensation of most transfer and movement. Their internal construction makes them stand apart. They are developed to be extremely flexible and user friendly with seamless tubes that prevent leak paths. They are able to retain flexibility in cold environments and maintain continuous electrically.
Composite hose is also utilized for aggressive chemicals and maintaining chemical purity. They are more rugged than standard Teflon hose as a result. Other uses include: in-plant suction and discharge service; tank car and railcar transfer; and, lube oil blending as well as for all applications needed in Marine ship-to-shore activities. It’s the construction that is critical.
The inner and outer wire is made of galvanized steel and polypropylene coated steel. Deep grooves and tight compression ensure a leak-tight seal. Flanges are manufactured to the customer’s specifications. A different principle of an insulating joint is to use an insulating spool type flange offering various advantages over traditional insulating flange kits that include:
- Minimum resistive path is in the order of one inch. 1012 ohm/cm
- The offset bolt pattern design assures foolproof and failsafe insulation.
- Simple one piece Nylatron GSM construction.
- Conforms to U.S.C.G. 154.810 “Vapor Line
- Connections” Section G – facility vapor connection and I.S.G.O.T.T. chapter 6 – Electrical Insulations
- Prevents any possibility of an electrical arc upon disconnection of the hose.
Heavy duty swaged or crimped ferrule secures the fitting onto the hose maintaining the ozone, UV and abrasion-resistant inner layers. The end fittings in these hose assemblies must be engineered with end user safety as the primary objective. Your manufacture should ensure that all fittings are subjected to a stringent quality control, inspection and traceability program. Ensuring the quality, flexibility and workmanship of all of these components will maintain the strength of your operation for years to come.
