Expansion Joints

Stainless Steel Expansion Joints

Our stainless steel expansion joints are used in lots of applications, where it concerns safety, health, environment, durability and lifetime. Bellows are made from stainless steel strip which is first welded to a thin walled tube and formed to a bellow afterwards.

Bellows are normally unbraided and capable to absorb axial, lateral and angular movements while being under low or higher pressures and temperatures. Due to the construction techniques involved the bellows are relative light compared to equivalent non-metallic bellow alternatives in the market.

Stainless steel itself can withstand extreme variations in temperature ranging from very low to high temperatures i.e. from Cryogenic up to 600 °C. Stainless steel bellows are diffusion tight, have an excellent chemical resistance as well as high physical strength. On top of it, stainless steel bellows have very good corrosion characteristics. United Flexible bellows and expansion joints are generally produced and assembled in sizes from nominal 40 mm (1-1/2”) up to nominal 2000 mm (80”).

Because of our broad package of different stainless steel bellows, they can be used in both static and flexible applications and installations where constant flexing or vibration is required. For further information we recommend that you refer to the technical information on our website or contact our technical sales team directly for any assistance and advice.

United Flexible offers expansion joints for the use of flue or exhaust systems in ships and engine rooms with a higher demand of temperature, small vibrations and lower pressure two types available from stock.

There is a wide range of stainless steel expansion joints used in the HVAC market. United Flexible supplies several types for this market from stock for fast delivery. There are types with welding ends, female thread, press fittings (welded and fitted) but also with flanges or grooved ends. The corrugated bellow can be carried out with a cover (outer sleeve).

Stainless steel pump connectors (braided joints) are mainly used in thermal oil pipe systems to accommodate universal lateral movements (vibrations).

Besides the standard expansion joints, AmniTec also deliver some special types; Stainless steel expansion joints to be used in mainly thermal oil pipe systems to accommodate basically (only) axial movements:

Stainless steel expansion joints, custom made, to be used in general pipe systems, for absorption of axial, lateral and angular movements:

Rubber Expansion Joints

Rubber expansion joints are used in lots of applications, where it concerns safety, health, environment, durability and lifetime. Bellows are made from various kinds of rubber, e.g. EPDM, Butyl, Nitril, Chloroprene, Viton and combinations. They are often reinforced by steel wire cord, textile (rubberized) cord, nylon tire cord, PA textile cord, etc. Therefore they are capable to absorb axial, lateral and angular movements while being under low or higher pressures and temperatures.

Due to the construction techniques and rubber quality and mixtures, rubber expansion joints are pre-eminently suitable for applications in water, warm water, drinking water, cooling water, waste water, seawater etc. Our scope also covers the need of expansion joints for applications in (weak) acids, alkalis, compressed air, oils, gasoline, grease and solvents.

We also offer rubber expansion joints for hot oils, benzene, xylene, alcohols, esters, ketones, town-gas and natural gas and LPG (acc. to EN 589) and even foodstuffs. United Flexible rubber expansion joints can withstand temperature variations in a ranging from -25 °C up to 120°C (temporarily 150°C). They have an excellent chemical resistance as well as high physical strength. On top of it, rubber bellows have very good corrosion characteristics.

United Flexible rubber bellows and expansion joints are generally produced and assembled in sizes from nominal 20 mm (3/4”) up to nominal 1000 mm (40”). Because of our broad package of different stainless steel bellows, they can be used in both static and flexible applications and installations where constant flexing or vibration is required. For further information we recommend that you refer to the technical information on our website or contact our technical sales team directly for any assistance and advice.
